Happy Birthday Synod of the Trinity!

September 17th is THE day of the first General Synod meeting in 1717.  At that meeting the presbyteries of Philadelphia (formerly “The Presbytery”), New Castle, and Long Island gathered to do business, and among other things, the precursor to the Board of Pensions was formed.  This year will be the 300th anniversary of the formation of the Synod of the Trinity!  Since that date falls on a Sunday this year, Synod is asking that churches to participate during worship using the attached bulletin insert.  There is also an opportunity for a congregation to receive a grant by participating in the celebration (details are on the bulletin insert).

Elmarie and Scott Parker to Visit

Elmarie and Scott Parker will be visiting Shenango Presbytery from August 5-8.  The Parkers will share stories of the churches in Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon and how these churches are sharing Christ’s love even with those considered enemies.  You’re bound to hear kingdom stories you will want to retell to your congregation and even your friends.  All are invited!

  • Sunday, August 6
    • 10:30 AM Shenango Presbyterian Church, 3144 Wilmington Road, New Castle
    • 7:00 PM Hillside Presbyterian Church, 2 North High Street, Greenville
  • Tuesday, August 8
    • 12:00 PM Trinity Presbyterian Church, 110 E. Market St., Mercer
Bring a brown bag lunch if you like and we’ll meet in the Sharing Place.

Watch for more opportunities to hear the Parkers!

Another Carpenter’s Project Completed

Members of our presbytery churches in the greater Ellwood City participate each year in a city-wide week of service and mission in their neighbors, dubbed The Carpenter’s Project.  Volunteers from more than two dozen churches came out a few weeks ago to work on homes that need repair and encouragement.  Pictured here is a typical worksite.  We bless the churches (of all traditions) in Ellwood City for this witness of unity and service.
