Rev. Bill McGary died this past Friday evening in his home. He was in his mid 60s, in good health, and beginning to think about retirement, etc.
This is shocking and hard news for our Wampum church, where Bill has been pastor for 35+ years. And it is a great loss to our presbytery, as Bill has been a voice of wisdom and a leader in many areas and on many fronts over the decades. By any measure, he is currently our longest serving shepherd in a single flock. Read his obituary here.
Calling hours will be from 3-7 PM Wednesday afternoon at Smith Funeral Home in Leesburg, and from 9-11 AM on Thursday morning at Wampum Presbyterian Church (370 Main Street, Wampum). The Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at Wampum Church at 11:00 AM.
Let us together give thanks for the good hope of the resurrection.
