Shenango Authors
Two former minister members of our presbytery and their spouses have recently published books: Dr. Gary Smith, retired from Grove City College, and his wife Jane recently published Suffer the Children: How We Can Help Improve the Lives of the World’s Impoverished Children. Rev. Raymond Hylton, formerly pastor of First New Castle, and his wife Judith have authored 5 Disciplines of a Growing Marriage: Falling in Love Again. Remember, too, that Rev. Lisa Hickman (First Sharon) has authored several titles in recent years, available here.
Wampum Deacon Outreach
The Deacons of the Wampum church visit a different area nursing home each month, bringing with them a time of worship, hymn-singing, prayer, and scripture readings. Recently the deacons visited Shenango SeniorCare in New Wilmington, with a large crowd of residents in attendance. This gathering was a poignant one for the Wampum members, as it was the first deacon outreach in which Rev. Bill McGary was not in attendance. The Wampum church continues to mourn his sudden death last month.
Help for Puerto Rico
Help Presbyterians in Puerto Rico recover from hurricane Maria and enable them to minister to their neighbors.
Pastor Adolfo Santana- Cordero is the pastor of the PCUSA church in San Juan and personally friend of Beth Creekpaum (of the Sandy Lake church) through the PCUSA’s CREDO program.
He reports they are in desperate need of:
- Batteries: AA, AAA, 9V, C, D
- Flashlights
- Solar lamps
- Bug repellent (NON aerosol)
- candles
If your church is interested and willing to collect and mail these items to Adolfo and his church, please contact Beth at TheOtherRevCreekpaum@gmail.com for mailing/shipping instructions.
If you personally would like to donate items for mailing or contribute money to help defray the cost of mailing these items to Puerto Rico, please deliver to the Presbytery office and Beth will post them to Puerto Rico on your behalf.
Thanks for your generosity!
