Sudan/South Sudan Mission Network
More than 20 years ago some people from churches in Pennsylvania and South Carolina (as well as others from far and wide) formed a network so that they could connect more deeply with Christian friends in Sudan and, when in 2011 it became the newest nation, South Sudan.
This year, the Sudan/South Sudan Mission Network will meet at Westminster College on July 23-24.
As a local friend, you can register at the New Wilmington Mission Conference website, www.nwmcmission.org, so you can stay on campus and enjoy the conference for some or all of the week. You can also register as a commuter for $50 a day, or simply show up when you want during the conference without registering for any meals or conference activities. (**If you decide not to register, please contact Denise to let her know you plan to attend the Network meeting.)
Dinner with the Kandels

Gathering at 5:30 PM and a Picnic Supper at 6:00 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet Lynn and Sharon and to hear and learn about the work they are doing on behalf of Presbyterian Church (USA) with our South Sudanese church partners. Please RSVP by Thursday, July 26, 2018, by contacting the church office (724) 658-9051 or Tom Kaufman (724) 651-4323. Thank you!
Natural disasters and public violence are both a part of our current landscape. How can we respond to support and heal communities while also caring for ourselves? The Synod of the Trinity is partnering with five presbyteries to provide regional disaster training through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance in September and October. Save the date for Wednesday, October 17th as our closest event. Gather at Crestfield Camp & Conference Center in Slippery Rock for a day of training on “Disaster Preparedness and Engagement”. A second workshop will be offered after lunch, and participants can choose to attend “Human Caused Disasters” or “Immigration Issues”. There is a $10 per person registration fee. Further details and online registration can be found at http://www.syntrinity.org/PDA.
LAMBEC Capital Campaign
The Camping Association of the Presbyteries of Northwestern Pennsylvania is conducting a $100,000 capital campaign to restore the water system for Camp Lambec. The system needs a DEP-approved overhaul, and we are starting those repairs with an approved contractor. This is an expensive overhaul, but it is necessary to continue the ministry to youth and families. As such, the Board has authorized a $100K campaign to address this and other items of deferred maintenance. The Board is committed to the continued operation of Camp Lambec, as we believe firmly that this ministry provides unique and powerful discipleship opportunities for participants. Individual donations can be made online using this link. Church contributions can be coordinated through the Shenango Presbytery office.
A small church group in New Castle is seeking about 30-40 hymnals. If you have any extras, or even older hymnals that need a new home, please contact Randy Costello at 724-658-6416 or email@example.com.
