Wanted: Pastors and Elders to Consider Going to Sudan
Many of your churches have prayed for Sudan and given generously to our Presbytery’s partnership with the Sudan Evangelical Presbyterian Church. This partnership goes beyond money and prayer. Relationships between individuals are key to this partnership. We need pastors and elders to go to Sudan to meet and get to know our brothers and sisters there. If you or someone in your congregation are interested in going to Sudan on our presbytery’s next trip (possibly in early 2012), please contact Jim Leuenberger jimleuenberger@bethany-presbyterian.org.
A Report from Adam Soliz (Sierra Blanca Presbytery, NM)
Many of you will remember Adam’s plea for prayer for this service during his visit here in February….
On March 5th a joint service was held between the Presbyterian Church along the border between Mexico and the US. This took place at the border of Anapra and El Paso. Anapra is where over 5,000 women were violated and murdered in the last several years. We sang a few songs, and then I had the privilege of leading both nations in prayer. Dr. Rev. Wayne Hawkins preached a very beautiful sermon in both languages on immigration. Our Mexican brothers sang the last song (Lord I Lift Your Name on High) in Spanish, and I closed with the benediction. The Holy Spirit was so present as everyone was crying, including our Executive Presbyter, Sallie Watson. She told me that she was so ashamed. I took that as she had never seen this particular type of poverty and pain all in one place. In closing, let us continue praying for all nations. God Bless You and Keep You. A Servant for Christ our Lord, Adam Soliz.
