– Dave and Bonnie Dobi (1st Greenville) welcomed their first grandchild, Emily Grace, last Thursday.

– Margaret Trautman is now home recovering from her recent illness.
– Pam Maloney (1st Sharon) has been in the hospital with back pain from an infection.  She was recently moved to UPMC Greenville for rehabilitation.

Presbytery Council Forms Special Committee

The Presbytery Council formed a Special Committee to Monitor Denominational Issues at its April 5 meeting.  There are a variety of developments in the Presbyterian Church (USA) that merit our prayerful and careful attention.  This committee (in the process of being formed) is being asked to help us identify important matters for our consideration.  Click here for further information.

Mission Committees and Pastors:

Come learn more about a growing mission partnership in the Dominican Republic.  New Wilmington and Clen-Moore churches are hosting an Open House on Sunday, May 15, 6 PM at New Wilmington Church.  Come enjoy a free Dominican meal and learn more about how your church could join us in this partnership in the coming years.  In March, three members of the West Middlesex church shared in the partnership for the first time, and we would like to share in ministry with other churches going forward.  Contact Ralph Hawkins (ralph@nwpresby.org) or Chris Weichman (cweichman@verizon.net) for more details.

Wanted: Pastors and Elders to Consider Going to Sudan

Many of your churches have prayed for Sudan and given generously to our Presbytery’s partnership with the Sudan Evangelical Presbyterian Church.  This partnership goes beyond money and prayer.  Relationships between individuals are key to this partnership.  We need pastors and elders to go to Sudan to meet and get to know our brothers and sisters there.  If you or someone in your congregation are interested in going to Sudan on our presbytery’s next trip (possibly in early 2012), please contact Jim Leuenberger jimleuenberger@bethany-presbyterian.org.

Good Friday Breakfast

“Chris and I want to give our heartfelt thanks to each and every one who helped make it possible for us to purchase our stair-lift.  We are humbled by God’s great out-pouring of blessings through your prayers, help, and donations to our cause.  Our fundraiser, put on by Team Descendants this last Sunday evening at the Stoneboro United Methodist Church brought in $1,800.00.  We have decided that any moneys over and beyond what is needed for the stair-lift will go towards future needs for my Parkinson’s.”  Terry Greenlee

Last Supper Soliloquy at Tower Church

Since 1984, in alternating years, the men of Tower Church have presented a dramatic rendition of the Last Supper, bringing to life the thirteen men portrayed in Leonardo Da Vinci’s “Last Supper” painting.  Once again, this year, the moving monologues will be presented on Maundy Thursday, April 21 at 7:30 PM.  A service of communion will follow the program.  Tower Church is located at 248 South Broad Street, Grove City, next to the Grove City College campus.  For more information, call 724-458-7260.

“The Event!” at Center, Grove City

Concert at Center, Grove City

Center Presbyterian Church in Grove City (333 Center Church Road) will be hosting Nashville recording artist Eric Peters on Sunday, May 15th at 2:00 PM.  Eric weaves crafted harmonies with themes of grace, hope and redemption to create songs that touch the heart and the mind.  Eric has toured with Caedmon’s Call, Bebo Norman, Andrew Peterson and Derek Webb.  Admission is free, a love offering will be taken.

Lenten Coffee House

Westfield Church invites you to attend a Lenten Coffee House in April.  On Monday, April 4, the featured speaker is Rev. Shawn Cossin, pastor of Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church.  On Monday, April 18, they welcome Rev. Patti Harbison, the Erie-Meadville area Superintendent of the Western Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church.  Join them from 7:30 – 8:30 for light refreshment for your body and some serious refreshment for your soul!

Rummage Sale

1st Sharon will be holding a Rummage Sale on April 29-30 from 9 AM – 2 PM.  A bake sale will be featured, and lunch will be available.  Proceeds benefit the work of the Presbyterian Women of 1st Sharon.

Cana’s Corner Presents David Buchanan in Concert

On April 26, 2011 from 7-9 PM Cana’s Corner Coffeehouse is proud to present David Buchanan in concert.  David has shared his praise and worship music at the coffeehouse before and his songs have blessed hearts and touched souls.  If you like music in the genre of familiar praise and worship songs, please plan on coming to hear him.  You won’t be disappointed.  There is no cover charge and coffee and doughnuts are free.  We will start serving specialty foods for sale at this coffeehouse.  Come and enjoy a time of fellowship with friends while reflecting on the message of this season and enjoying fellowship with friends.  We are open the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month.  A free will offering will be taken.
