FOP/ECO

What is the Fellowship?  What is ECO?  What options do they offer for ministry and mission for churches?  Shenango Presbytery?  Come and learn more.  There will be another special discussion on FOP and ECO:

  • Thursday, March 22, 7:00 PM, 1st Presbyterian Church, Sharon

  • Donna Heard’s father passed away last week.  Donna is Commissioned Ruling Elder at Word Centered Church.
  • Bob and Joyce Bardeen’s (Westfield) daughter-in-law went into labor with twins.  She has been confined to bed rest and Bob & Joyce will be helping them in Los Angeles.

Learn About Christians in Vietnam

Paul Friesen, Regional Liason for Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam will be speaking at Tower Church on Sunday, March 25  at the 8:30 and 11:00 services, and Tuesday, March 27th at New Wilmington Presbyterian Church for dinner at 5:30-7:00 PM (please RSVP for the dinner at 724-946-3541 or office@nwpresby.org).  You are invited to lunch with Paul on Monday the 25th (contact office@shenango.org for details and reservations.)
Evangelism Training Conference – ENGAGE
Look for a special eLink later this week detailing a very special evangelism event provided by your Presbytery committee.  Ray Jones is the leader, and he has been very effective across the country with this event.  Ray is an accomplished new church development pastor from Georgia.  If this is to be effective for your churches, the pastor and a team of leaders will need to attend together.
Work Camp Building Project in Mozambique
Teams are being recruited for two-week segments between August 1 and September 9 to build a church in Mozambique. Further information is available from Penny McFarland (jdmcfarland@comcast.net).
Travel Expenses for Ingrid Reneau
Ingrid Reneau is doing research on south Sudan cattle camps at the Akrofi-Christaller Institute (ACI) in Ghana.  Influencing this culture is a critical task for the Sudanese Church.  Ingrid will travel to Ghana four times in the next year ($1,000 per trip).  We are receiving contributions for “Ingrid Reneau, ACI travel assistance” at the Presbytery Office.
Dominican Republic Trip
A team of 30 from several churches, led by the Clen-Moore and New Wilmington Churches, have just returned from the Dominican Republic where they have a long-term partnership.  Would you like to join next year?  http://sabanetadeyasica.blogspot.com/. World Mission Initiative Conference at Pittsburgh Seminary

Report on Visit to Khartoum, Sudan
Steve and Brenda Stelle, Dave Dawson, and Sylvia Carlson (Redstone Presbytery) joined by Michael Weller, our Regional Liason for Sudan and Ethiopia, have returned from a one-week trip visiting our partner, the Sudan Presbyterian Evangelical Church.  A brief report from Rev. Dawson will be posted on the Presbytery website later this week.  Steve and Brenda Stelle will also give a report at the April 24 Presbytery meeting.
Introductory Course in Christian Education
The Eastern Region of APCE is offering an introductory course in Christian Education entitled “Jump Start” for Directors of CE, new pastors, and elders responsible for the education program of their church.  The course will enable participants to articulate their philosophy of CE and to plan an program year for children, youth, and adults.  The overnight course will begin at 7 PM on Sunday, April 22 and conclude at noon on Monday, April 23 at Rhodes Grove Camp & Conference Center just outside Chambersburg, PA.  Cost is $50.  For more information, contact Rev. Youth Director Wanted

Coolspring Church has an opening for a Youth Director.  This position is a paid part-time position.  This person will be working with youth from 4th-12th grade in two groups.  The successful candidate will enjoy working with young people, will be able to involve the adults of the church in Youth Ministry, and will display a mature Christian faith.  Interested applicants should submit a resume or a letter of interest to Coolspring Presbyterian Church, 787 Coolspring Church Road, Mercer, PA  16137 or by email to coolspringpc@windstream.net.

Free Curriculum

First Presbyterian Church of Sharon has a box of free curriculum that they would like to give to someone who needs it.  It’s children’s sample curriculum materials from several different publishing  houses.   All you have to do is pick it up.  Contact Debbie Derrenbacher at 724-981-2211 ext. 3 or dcm@1stpcs.org.

“His Own”, “Which Way Down” to appear at Cana’s

Duet team of “His Own” as well as trio “Which Way Down” will appear at the coffeehouse on March 27th.  Cana’s Corner Coffeehouse is located at the First Presbyterian Church of Sharon, 600 E. State St., Sharon, PA.  The coffeehouse is open from 7-9pm the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month. A free will offering will be taken.  Refreshments are free.
