Prayer Concern

Ruth Hunt (wife of David, Unity) has been diagnosed with a tumor on her right kidney.  The doctor has told them that the kidney will need to be removed, and other tests are scheduled to determine if there is more about which to be concerned.  Please keep Ruth and David in your prayers.

The Session Records Review dates have been set…Wednesday, April 24th for Mercer County Congregations at 7:00 PM at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Mercer, and Thursday, April 25th for Lawrence County Congregations at 7:00 PM at Northminster Presbyterian Church in New Castle.  Letters and forms will be mailed to Clerks of Session next week with more information.

Presbytery Group Attending 1001 Worshipping Communities Conference

The Evangelism Committee and the “Right Here Right Now” group will be sending the following persons to a conference in Virginia April 10-12 on starting new worshipping communities in your neighborhood:  Angel and Charlene DeLaCruz, Jim Latta, Andrew Jillson, Miriam Gwin, Michael Spicuzza, Sam Marchetta, Steve and Tracie Mariner.

Board of Pensions Regional Benefits Conference

Attending the Regional Benefits Conference this year (April 17-18 in Philadelphia) will be Nathan Leslie, Adam Rodgers, Jerry Deck, and David Dawson.  There will be major changes in the Board’s medical plan next year.  These individuals will have up to date information on that development.

Perspectives Summer Intensive – August 4-10, 2013 – Pittsburgh Theological Seminary

If you can’t manage the 15-week Perspectives course, here is another opportunity.  The early registration discount ends May 1st and registration closes June 15th.  Complete the first 5 lessons prior to the Intensive. Great speakers will present the lessons every day.  Meet others interested in mission and participate in optional cross-cultural activities in the city.  Finish the homework lessons once the class is over. Special Needs Support Workshop for Local Churches at Grove City College

Saturday, April 6th from 10-11:30 AM in the Sticht Lecture Hall in the Hall of Arts and Letters, Grove City College will host a workshop with speaker Jackie Mills-Fernald, director of one of the largest disability ministries in the United States.  Come hear her speak on practical ways to include individuals with special needs in all aspects of church ministry.  Local church leaders, youth directors, volunteers, and caregivers of those with special needs are welcome.  RSVP by April 1st tochurchworkshop@gmail.com.

Westminster College’s 26th Annual Wayne H. Christy Lecture, Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 7:00 PM – Wallace Memorial Chapel

Bethann Dolan will lecture on “Sometimes You Have to Wonder…Where’s God? (Joshua 1:5)”  Bethann is a 1991 graduate of Westminster College, is a teacher in the Hammpton Township School District, and was the 2012 Westminster Alumni Citation Recipient.

Sudan Prayer Initiative

You are invited to join others in Shenango Presbytery in praying for Sudan and our Sudanese brothers and sisters in Christ.  We are well aware of all of the problems in Sudan as well as the challenges of the new country of South Sudan. We wee the situation more clearly since our last Sudan travelers have returned and reported.  The Sudan Mission Network of Shenango Presbytery has organized a specific plan to pray for Sudan.  Please join us in this Initiative and we will send you a packet of what to pray for, and we will update you on a regular basis when specific needs for prayer are requested, either by email or regular mail.  We suggest you pray daily or weekly and join us when possible for a group prayer at a place and time to be announced on a quarterly basis.  Please contact Jim Leuenberger (pastor.northliberty@gmail.com) for questions or Betsy Barr (bbarr99_99@yahoo.com) to receive packet of information and prayer requests.

Indoor Yard Sale

The Presbyterian Women of Unity Presbyterian Church, 1857 Mercer W. Middlesex Road (Rt. 318), will hold an Indoor Yard Sale on Friday, April 5, 8 AM – 3 PM and Saturday, April 6 from 8 AM – 1 PM.  Lunch will be available.  Proceeds will support mission projects.

Spaghetti Dinner – Saturday, April 6th

Come to Northminster Presbyterian Church this Saturday for a spaghetti dinner from 4:30 – 7:00 PM.  Adults: $9.00, Children (3-10): $3.00, 2 and under are free!  Tickets are available at the door and take-out is available.  Dinner includes: all you can eat spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, drink and dessert.

Mission Auction

Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church (3461 Sandy Lake New Lebanon Rd., Sandy Lake, PA) will host a Mission Auction on Wednesday, April 10, 2013.  Door (and kitchen) open at 5 PM with the auction beginning at 6 PM.  Furniture, baked goods, services, gift baskets, and other items will be auctioned off.  The Mission team and their auctioneer, Chuck Mowry will host.  All proceeds will go to the mission trip to Native American Youth Ministries in Arizona in June.  Contact the church office with questions: 724-376-2630.
