EP Activity this Month
Our Executive Presbyter, Ralph Hawkins, will be preaching for a joint service with the Mt. Hermon and Oak Grove churches, at Oak Grove (November 30). With TE Rich Kinney (Highland), Ralph will be participating in a PCUSA delegation led by Rev. Hunter Farrell, director of our denomination’s World Mission office, to visit with Presbyterians in the Synod of the Nile, Egypt, and to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Cairo. Rich and Ralph will also visiting with long-time presbytery mission partners in Sudan. Please pray for them during the days of November 9-24 as they travel on behalf of our presbytery. Ralph welcomes opportunities to preach or bring greetings during a worship service, as well as opportunities to visit Session and Deacon meetings. Thanksgiving Community Worship Service
Westminster College Office of Faith and Spirituality invites the community to attend a Thanksgiving Community Worship Service on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at 7:00 PM in Wallace Memorial Chapel, Westminster College. Guest preacher is Rev. Tom Gomola, Leesburg Presbyterian Church. Music by Second Chance Praise Team and various Student Musicians. Come and share in community with Jesus Christ as we give thanks for our community and the blessings given to each of us from God. Canned Goods and Offering will be received to support local food banks.

Reservations are now being taken for “Open Hearts in Bethlehem”, the one-act musical drama being staged at TRINITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH in Mercer. Admission is a free-will donation for Missions. Go to http://trinitypc.wix.com/mercer and click on “Play Reservations”. Written by Dr. Kenneth E. Bailey, the play will be staged at 7 PM on Friday and Saturday, December 12 and 13 and at 2:30 PM on Saturday and Sunday, December 13 and 14. Dr. Bailey hopes that a more culturally sensitive and historically accurate understanding of the story of Jesus’ birth will help “rescue the truth from familiarity” and will enrich the story for all.
Sing Your Favorite Hymns at Unity
The hymns of faith, the corporate praise of God is one of the wonderful traditions of the Reformed Faith. Join Unity Church (1857 Mercer-West Middlesex Road), the third Sunday of each month, for EVENSONG, an hour or so of singing together the favorite hymns and songs of our life. On November 23 at 7:00 PM several Lawrence County congregations will come together for a special Thanksgiving Service at Christ the King Parish in Hillsville. The service will features the talents and testimonies of members of many of the churches. Participants include Bessemer Presbyterian Church, Bethel Presbyterian Church (EPC), Mahoning Presbyterian Church, Mt. Jackson Presbyterian Church, Westfield Presbyterian Church (ECO), and Moravia Presbyterian Church. There will be a time of refreshments and fellowship after the service.
