Session Records Reviews

In accordance with the Book of Order of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the Standing Rules of the Presbytery of Shenango, the annual review of Session records will be conducted at two county meetings.

All Mercer County Churches will meet at 6:00 PM on Wednesday,
May 3, 2017 at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Mercer, and all Lawrence County Churches will meet at 6:00 PM on Thursday,
May 4, 2017 at Northminster Presbyterian Church in New Castle.

Again this year we will begin at promptly at 6 p.m. with welcome and prayer.  You will be asked to exchange books with the person seated next to you so if questions arise, you will be able to discuss your concerns with the clerk whose book you are reading.  I hope that Rev. Hawkins, EP/Stated Clerk of Presbytery, will be able to be with us to offer instructions and advice.  Members of the session records committee will also be available to answer questions.  Please do not drop off your book ahead of time or send your book with someone who is not willing to stay and read another’s session book.

For those whose church registry is also up for review, you will be paired up with clerks, from other churches, who need both minute books and registers reviewed; you will exchange and review both books.  I realize that many individuals do not feel confident to review Church Registers, but this will be an opportune time to learn.  All congregations should be represented.   Session Minutes are reviewed annually and Church Registers once every five years

The following church registers are up for review: Word Centered (from 2016), Amity, Rich Hill, Sandy Lake, First Sharon, First Sharpsville, Sheakleyville, Stoneboro, Wampum, and Wurtemburg.

(Note: We will not send paper copies in the mail this year, but copies will be available at the review events.)
