Presbytery Council Forms Special Committee

The Presbytery Council formed a Special Committee to Monitor Denominational Issues at its April 5 meeting.  There are a variety of developments in the Presbyterian Church (USA) that merit our prayerful and careful attention.  This committee (in the process of being formed) is being asked to help us identify important matters for our consideration.  Click here for further information.

Mission Committees and Pastors:

Come learn more about a growing mission partnership in the Dominican Republic.  New Wilmington and Clen-Moore churches are hosting an Open House on Sunday, May 15, 6 PM at New Wilmington Church.  Come enjoy a free Dominican meal and learn more about how your church could join us in this partnership in the coming years.  In March, three members of the West Middlesex church shared in the partnership for the first time, and we would like to share in ministry with other churches going forward.  Contact Ralph Hawkins (ralph@nwpresby.org) or Chris Weichman (cweichman@verizon.net) for more details.

A Report from Adam Soliz (Sierra Blanca Presbytery, NM)

Many of you will remember Adam’s plea for prayer for this service during his visit here in February….

On March 5th a joint service was held between the Presbyterian Church along the border between Mexico and the US.  This took place at the border of Anapra and El Paso.  Anapra is where over 5,000 women were violated and murdered in the last several years.  We sang a few songs, and then I had the privilege of leading both nations in prayer.  Dr. Rev. Wayne Hawkins preached a very beautiful sermon in both languages on immigration.  Our Mexican brothers sang the last song (Lord I Lift Your Name on High) in Spanish, and I closed with the benediction.  The Holy Spirit was so present as everyone was crying, including our Executive Presbyter, Sallie Watson.  She told me that she was so ashamed.  I took that as she had never seen this particular type of poverty and pain all in one place.  In closing, let us continue praying for all nations.  God Bless You and Keep You.  A Servant for Christ our Lord, Adam Soliz.
