Film to See
“Angered by white residents’ racist comments that he wouldn’t “keep up his yard,” Pearl Fryar teaches himself topiary sculpture and becomes the first African American in his Bishopville, SC neighborhood to win the coveted “yard of the month” award.” Presbyterian Media Mission presents “A Man Named Pearl” at a special event on Wednesday, November 11th at 10:30 AM at the Cranberry Theaters in Cranberry Twp. Cost per participant is $4.00 and there will be a Q&A following the showing of the film with Director, Scott Galloway (son of the former Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church Pastor John Galloway). This award-winning film can be used in your ministry for education purposes and allow for constructive conversation about racism, bigotry, discrimination and other social dynamics that we confront in people being treated without equal regard in a variety of communities across our nation and the world.
