It’s time to update our Minister’s Networking Directory again.  Ministers and CREs are asked to complete Directory Information Form and return it to the Presbytery Office by September 1st.  If you only have a few updates or no changes at all, you can email the information to Autumn at office@shenango.org.

Don McClure Lectures at Pittsburgh Seminary

The annual McClure Lectures will feature Dr. Anne-Marie Kool, Professor of Missiology at Karoli Gaspar University of the Reformed Church in Budapest, Hungary.  You are invited to these free lectures entitled, “European Churches’ Perspectives on Mission Among the Roma People” September 24-25, 2012 at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.  Lectures at 11:30 AM, 4:30 PM, and 7:30 PM on the 24th.  The World Mission Initiative Dinner is at 6 PM.  To make dinner reservations ($12) and for more information, contact ConEd@pts.edu or 412-924-1345.

Wee Kirk NE

Now is the time to register for “Wee Kirk NE” — which will be october 15-16-17 at the Laurelville Conference Center near Mt. Pleasant, PA.  This is a great time of inspiration and refreshment.  ALL people from small churches are invited to attend.  Cost is $75 a couple or $50 for single.  Flyers are available.  This is a ministry of Presbyterians for Renewal.

Mission Adventure

MISSION ADVENTURE is looking for volunteers for a work trip to WORLD VISION – APPALACHIA in Philippi, West Virginia Sunday, September 16, 2012 (depart in the afternoon) to Friday, September 21, 2012.  The mission work trip will have work projects out in the community doing home improvements/repairs.  OR work at the WorldVision Warehouse – sorting and packing clothes or work in the materials warehouse.  Carpooling: leave Sunday afternoon (less than 3-1/2 hour drive); Lodging: Philippi Inn (ie. Super 8); Meals: Breakfast-self-pay next door to Inn, Lunch- provided (bagged lunch), Dinner- self-pay at local establishments.  Cost: $300.00 per person double-occupancy (this includes a $125.00 per person volunteer fee to WorldVision for work project materials).  Registration: Due Friday, September 7 – email: MissionAdventure@zoominternet.net or call Tom Kaufman at 724-651-4323.

News from the Churches

Free Screening of 58: The Film at 1st New Castle

On Saturday, September 22 at 7:00 PM First Presbyterian Church in New Castle will host a screening of 58: The Film, a joint project of ten ministries including Compassion International, International Justice Mission, and World Relief.  58: The Film is inspired by God’s call in Isaiah for a true fast, one that ministers to the imprisoned, the hungry, the widow, and the homeless in their need…”it invites audiences to discover the incredible work of God through His people in our hurting world.”  The screening is free to all; a free will offering will be taken for Evangelical Fellowship International.  Prior to the film, the church will also host a community dinner.  For more info call the church office at 724-652-7706.  More info on the film is available at live58.org.

Financial Peace University

New Wilmington Presbyterian Church will be offering Financial Peace University.  Classes begin September 16, 2012 at 7 PM.  Anyone interested can go to www.nwpresby.org for more information.

Church Basement Sale at Enon

39th Annual Church Basement Sale will be held at Enon Presbyterian Church, 230 Church Street, Enon Valley, PA  16120 on September 13, 14, 15 from 9 AM to 3 PM dailly.  Many treasures are to be found at our annual sale including: books, furniture, toys, household goods, collectibles and more.  A lunch counter will be available daily.  Bake sale also included.  The sale is sponsored by the Women’s Association and the majority of the profit goes to fund our local, national and international mission giving.

Musician Wanted

Faith Presbyterian Church in Hermitage is looking for both an organist and a choir director.  If you are interested, or know a musician who might be interested in either of the positions, please contact the church at office@faithpc.net or 724-962-4155.

Church Financial Secretary

Part-time position max of 24 hours per week.  Two years broad accounting experience, computer skills with accounting programs necessary.  Church Windows software helpful.  Prepares monthly/semi-monthly financial reports, be fidelity bondable, accounts receivable/payable, accurate record keeping.  Absolute confidentiality a must.  Hourly wage negotiable.  Send cover letter and resume to tpchr012@zoominternet.net.
